Biosynthesis of a Mono-CoA Ester from Octadecane-1, 18-dioic Acid in Rat Liver

Hidehiko ADACHI, Osamu MITSUHASHI and Yoh IMAI

Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, Hokkaido University Sapporo 060

  1. Octadecane-1, 18-dioic acid was thioesterified with CoA to form a CoA ester in an ATP-dependent system either of microsomes or of post-mitochondrial fractions from rat liver.
  2. The nature of the biosynthesized CoA ester of octadecane-1, 18-dioic acid was confirmed by chromatographic and mass spectrometric analyses.
  3. The octadecanedioyl-CoA obtained either in microsomes or in post-mitochondrial fractions was not di-CoA ester but mono-CoA ester.
